The Intergenerational Impact of the Earned Income Tax Credit on Education and Employment Outcomes

摘要: Using four decades of policy variation in federal and state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) benefits, we estimate the intergenerational impact EITC on education employment outcomes. Results suggest that an additional $1,000 exposure when a child is 18 years old increases likelihood completing high school (2.5 percent), attending college (4.5 (4.3 being employed (1 annual earnings by $883 (or 3.7 percent). Variation at different ages childhood indicate has largest effect children their teenage years.
