摘要: Members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis group synthesize a family long-chain fatty acids, mycolic which are located in cell envelope. These include non-oxygenated α-mycolic acid and oxygenated keto- methoxymycolic acids. The function bacterial virulence, if any, these various types acids is unknown. We have constructed mutant strain M. with an inactivated hma (cmaA, mma4) gene; this no longer synthesizes has profound alterations its envelope permeability attenuated mice.
