摘要: Quantitative samples of fine roots (d≤3 mm) were extracted from the soil a 90-year-old beech-birch-maple stand that had been previously treated with lime (1120 kg/ha) or plus 15-10-10 NPK fertilizer (6720 kg/ha). Estimates root biomass were: 1246±94 g/m2, control; 1229±194 only; and 2711±423 lime+NPK. Increased concentration in fertilized plot was greatest upper horizons, but extended through profile to all C horizon. Concentrations N, P, Ca, Mg increased significantly by treatment; K unaffected. Elements not added lime-Al, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu-also plot. biomass, nutrient content, rooting depth resulting fertilization should lead to: (1) higher organic matter content deeper (2) availability larger volume —with its moisture nutrients—to vegetation, (3) wind-firmness addition more direct effects upon growth, vigor, properties. re]19730806
