摘要: This article traces the roots of ideas currently influencing Labour party relating to role state in Britain's political economy, exploring trajectory by which such have entered contemporary debate and how they continue shape party's agenda. Subsequent sections explore diverse interpretations New Labour, economic legacy Blair Brown governments, re-imagining British economy undertaken under Miliband's leadership, interlinking ‘progressive dilemmas’ that so far emerged. The concludes suggesting ambitious rediscovery interventionism will only be realisable if confronts historical dilemmas structure efficacy state. Such a confrontation requires serious engagement between doctrines social democracy overlapping narratives liberal thought.
