摘要: Epidural spinal cord stimulation has a long history of application as neuromodulation method for the relief intractable pain and improving motor control in various disorders. In injury specifically, epidural lumbar can effectively severe diffuse spasticity, without further deteriorating residual voluntary control. With appropriate parameters, also generate rhythmic activity extension paralyzed legs well enable or facilitate lower-limb movements. The development transcutaneous stimulation, non-invasive working through surface electrodes with similar neuromodulatory effects, allows wide clinical this technique contemporary rehabilitation programs. While providing background information on historical recent developments field neurophysiological mechanisms chapter provides practical professionals interested using electrical individuals after injury.
