摘要: Objectives: To investigate the prevalence and correlates of smartphone addiction among university students in Saudi Arabia. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom Arabia between September 2014 March 2015. An electronic self administered questionnaire problematic use mobile phones (PUMP) Scale were used. Results: Out 2367 subjects, 27.2% stated that they spent more than 8 hours per day using their smartphones. Seventy-five percent used at least 4 applications day, primarily for social networking watching news. As a consequence smartphones, 43% had decrease sleeping hours, experienced lack energy next 30% unhealthy lifestyle (ate fast food, gained weight, exercised less), 25% reported academic achievement been adversely affected. There are statistically significant positive relationships variables, consequences (negative lifestyle, poor achievement), number years study, used, outcome variable score on PUMP. The mean values PUMP scale 60.8 with median 60. Conclusion: University risk to smartphones; phenomenon is associated negative effects sleep, levels energy, eating habits, exercise, performance.
