摘要: Parenteral nutrition associated liver disease (PNALD) is the major source of morbidity and mortality in children with short bowel syndrome (SBS). There emerging evidence that omega-6 fatty acids (ω6FA) within parenteral solution play a role PNALD their effects may be reversed or ameliorated by substitution omega-3 (ω3FA). This paper reviews mechanisms whereby ω3FAs influence improving bile flow, inhibiting steatosis, having immunomodulatory effects. The early clinical experience SBS briefly reviewed implications such, future directions are considered.
