摘要: Understanding the origins, or provenance, of a sedimentary deposit is an important aspect geology. Sedimentary rocks are derived from erosion other and thus provide records geological environment at time they were deposited. Some minerals found in rocks, such as zircon particles, can be dated using uranium-lead techniques to trace age their parent rock providing useful information about environment. Statistical mathematical analyses that assist analysis distribution ages crystals examined. Methods defining difference between distributions samples proposed, demonstrated division multiple into clusters similar types. A test for existence cluster developed, statistics comparing different Estimating accurate itself proves difficult unless prior significant extra available.
