摘要: Abstract The National Screening Committee of the Department Health has made recommendations to Government advising that prenatal screening for Down's syndrome should be offered all pregnant women regardless their age. As most over 35 are already some form testing, affected pregnancies in younger will account majority any increased overall detection rate. Therefore, while a ‘screening all' policy offer wider reproductive choices more women, it is likely specifically increase number young experiencing termination pregnancy abnormality. A inter-dependent factors predispose high levels psychological distress following termination, and combination these found very young. In addition, often have little knowledge testing may accept presented as ‘routine' without considering consequences. At point where decisions about diagnostic or made, specialised support indicated women. If UK Committee's taken forward therefore, service providers ensure suitable available vulnerable clients.
