Kinetic Studies on the Reduction of Iron Oxides in Low-Grade Chromite Ore by Coke Fines for Its Beneficiation

摘要: In a novel method of beneficiation low-grade chromite ore, nuggets, 25 mm in diameter and 10 mm long, made ore coke fines, are subjected to partial reduction. A significant degree reduction iron oxide is observed at temperatures 1373–1523 K up time 240 min, subsequent magnetic separation found enrich the ore. kinetic studies performed on nucleation growth model NG1 (Avrami–Erofeev eq.; $$n=1$$ ) be rate-controlling regime. However, during early phase reaction, particularly lower temperature 1423 K, NG2 eq., $$n = 2$$ predicts behaviour better. At higher conversion, 1523 K, diffusion plays role. The average apparent activation energy based over entire reaction period, estimated 38.52 kJ/mol.
