Female Sex Workers and the Social Context of Workplace Violence in Tijuana, Mexico

摘要: Gender-based violence in the workplace impacts physical and emotional well-being of sex workers may lead to other health problems, such as PTSD depression, drug abuse, a greater likelihood sexually transmitted infections. This study examines social context risk avoidance legal regulations meant reduce harms associated with industry. Ethnographic research, including 18 months extended field observations interviews 190 female workers, is used illustrate how Tijuana, Mexico, experience manage violence. Multiple subthemes emerge from this analysis, deciding where work, working third party, avoiding theft, dealing police. These findings support idea that part larger “hierarchy risk” can result “trade-off” harms.
