Glass composite seals for SOFC application

摘要: Abstract Glass composite materials were investigated for use as a seal between Fe78Cr22 steel interconnects and cell components. Additions of MgO-filler to the sodium aluminosilicate (NAS) base glass increased coefficient thermal expansion ∼12 ppm provided sufficient match components allow cycling interfaces. The optimisation seals with long-term compliancy showed promising results in terms being able control both bonding strength interface reactivity metal glass. temperature protection surface by pre-oxidation did not alter picture. Etching surfaces combination application Mn-, Co-, or Ni-oxide coatings reduced metal–glass interactions Ni- Co-oxide facilitated an excellent bond gradual changing metal. Samples tested model experiments performance multi-cell stacks. Both pure NAS NAS/MgO material developed gas tight sealing performance, when sealed at 950 °C low, constant levels leakage throughout multiple cyclings after more than 5000 h run time stack testing.
