Light-matter interactions in whispering-gallery-mode microresonators

摘要: Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) microresonators have attracted a lot of interest in the last decades, due to their extraordinary high quality factors and small volume modes. These properties make them particularly suitable for shaping enhancing light-matter interactions, both fundamental physics engineering applications. Important results been achieved areas which range from lasing nonlinear optics, optical communications sensing. A number experiments concerned integrated form ring cavities 3D disk or toroid format. Among all geometries, however, microspheres are simplest three-dimensional WGM resonators: they typically ten hundred micrometers diameter, very often easily fabricated silica glass by simply melting tip an fiber.
