摘要: The practice of elective penicillin skin testing could be compromised by the fact that patients, their parents, or physicians remain reluctant to reuse penicillin-class antibiotics (PCAs) despite a negative evaluation an allergist. This study addresses PCAs in pediatric population after and drug challenge factors associated with its reluctance. All children evaluated for history allergy at CHU Sainte-Justine Allergy Clinic between January 1998 June 2000 were included study. A telephone survey was conducted May October 2002 assess perception initial reaction subsequent use antibiotics, antibiotic-related adverse reactions. Among 200 selected, parents 170 (85%) completed survey. Since allergist evaluation, 130 (76%) had received antibiotics. PCA used 59 (45%) children. Parents 24 (18%) refused because they still feared reaction. They more likely have been very frightened child's allergic than other whose (p = 0.008). Although is useful safe population, significant proportion refuse even though are needed. Identification children's reactions additional reassurance improve this situation.
