摘要: To determine characteristics, management, complications and outcome of neonates with meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) requiring mechanical ventilation (MV). A retrospective review clinical data MAS who were admitted to a public hospital for MV between January 2004 December 2006. Eighty-eight ventilated MAS. Thirty-one percent postdates 51% had no electronic fetal monitoring. Postnatal suctioning was not performed according protocol in 47% nonvigorous infants. High-frequency surfactant used 32 14% cases, respectively. Persistent pulmonary hypertension the newborn (PPHN) pneumothorax occurred 57 24% Overall mortality rate 33%. Neonates suffering from PPHN higher 48% compared 13% those without PPHN. Factors associated peak inspiratory pressure (P<0.001), (P<0.001) (P=0.001). Postdates, inadequate intrapartum monitoring limited use adjunct respiratory therapies common. Severe is adverse outcome.
