摘要: The term "pilonidal," derived from the Latinpilus, meaning hair, andnidus, nest, was first applied to sinuses in sacral region by Hodges1in 1880. However, lesion all probability described J. W. Warren1in 1867. Since description of many terms have been suggested, such as "coccygeal, sacrococcygeal or sinus, dimple fistula"; "postanal dimple, fistula fissure"; "posterior umbilicus"; "postsacral sequestration dermoid." From clinical usage "pilonidal sinus" has supplanted practically other terms.
