摘要: Abstract Cave ecosystems are subterranean biodiversity hotspots, but limited knowledge of the distribution diversity among caves hampers their conservation. Surveys surrogate taxa (e.g., keystone species) can identify hotspots when about an ecosystem is lacking. Bats species in cave because guano primary energy source supporting diverse assemblages cave-dependent wildlife. However, directly measuring bat time-consuming and requires expert knowledge; instead, we suggest use correlates that be derived from readily accessible data land-use maps) straightforward methods not requiring surveys, interviews) as a foundation for prioritizing caves. To easily measurable diversity, compared assemblage composition abundances 21 captured 56 on Bohol Island, Philippines, along gradients environmental factors human disturbance. Model- distance-based indicated surface-level disturbance (i.e., percent non-forested habitat, degree urbanization road development) with complexity available roosting area, structural heterogeneity, number entrances temperature range) were most influential governing cave-roosting assemblages, thus representing diversity. Prioritization schemes based these select combinations greater richness than both random selection observed intensive surveys. The easy-to-measure effective tool to prioritize protect bats wildlife they support.
