摘要: Stylosanthes (Papilionoideae, Leguminosae) is a predominantly Neotropical genus with ~48 species that include worldwide important forage species. This study presents the chromosome number and morphology of eight (S. acuminata, S. gracilis, grandifolia, guianensis, hippocampoides, pilosa, macrocephala, ruellioides). In addition, staining CMA DAPI, in situ hybridization 5S 35S rDNA probes, estimation DNA content were performed. The interpretation diversification was anchored by comparison sister Arachis dated molecular phylogeny based on nuclear plastid loci. showed 2n = 20, low cytomolecular regarding rDNA, genome size. has more ancient (~7 Mya Pliocene) than relatively recent (~2 Pleistocene), it seems diverse its lineage. Our data support idea stability relation to could be result origin. also related morphological differentiation among species, recurrent formation allopolyploid complexes.
