The relationship of car driving and bicycle riding on physical activity and social participation in Japanese rural areas

摘要: Abstract Limited transportation leads to restriction of activity. However, few studies have paid attention the effect type transportation. This study focused on car driving and bicycle riding aimed examine association these methods with physical activity social participation in Japanese older adults. cross-sectional included 374 adults living a rural area. Physical was evaluated using Activity Scale for Elderly. The data mode 4 types were obtained from self-reported questionnaire. An analysis covariance multivariate Poisson regression conducted evaluate associations. sample comprised 304 participants who usually drive 106 regularly ride bicycle. Although there no significant between activity, showed positive leisure time (p = .009), household .001), total community (PR 1.75, 95% CI: 1.11–2.77) volunteer activities 1.62, 1.08–2.43). These results suggested that different effects participation.
