Magnetic Excitations in Mixed Valent Materials

摘要: The spin dynamics of a number mixed valent materials have now been extensively studied using varied experimental probes including EPR, Raman scattering, infrared spectroscopy and inelastic neutron scattering. In this paper we review briefly photon spectroscopic studies the 7F0–7F1 excitation in semiconducting SmS, SmSe SmTe. New results for phonon dispersion relations SmS are presented. We also discuss recent scattering experiments by Axe, Lawrence, Parks ourselves on γ-α transition Ce.74Th.26. It is found that fluctuation energy evolves from ~20 to >70 meV going γ α phase.
