摘要: Until the late eighteenth century, religions, particularly in West, were defined by their sacred texts and dogmatic formulations. Friedrich Schleiermacher, was one of first scholars that attempted to define “religion” switching from a doctrinal emphasis more cognitive, visceral, or intuitive one. Schleiermacher religion as “feeling absolute dependence.” Since his day most attempts at general definition have relied heavily on emphasizing intuitive, emotional, visceral elements rather than ones. This shift has important implications for bringing neuroscientific approach study religion. However, this also results both religious non-religious spirituality spiritual experiences. In fact, definitions evolved, distinction between religiousness become much complicated.
