摘要: The level of bicycling is low in the United States compared to some European countries with similar living standards and auto ownership. Differences physical social environments these help explain much higher levels Europe than US. Previous research has established a potential association between environmental factors bicycling. However, empirical evidence whether environment have true impacts on individual bicycling, as well what their relative importance is, still limited. Using data from an online survey conducted 2006 six small cities western States, this study aims address questions by employing structural equations modeling, which accounts for endogeneities variables thereby more robust single equation models. findings show that attitudes, especially attitude liking greatest impact behavior. emerges second most important factor. Physical also influence after accounting residential self-selection. This provides stronger basis policy decisions promoting contributing improved understanding influences
