摘要: The existence of the current sheet and dawn to dusk electric field in geomagnetic tail implies there is particle energization order 2--10% total solar wind energy incident upon dayside magnetopause. In this paper we determine that ion acceleration a with small magnetic across sheet, via single-particle motion which violates guiding center approximation, can account for large tail. We calculate distribution accelerated ions result from urrent compare results distributions frequently observed flowing earthwards along outer boundary plasma sheet. comparison indicates earthward acceleration. Comparison measurements auroral predictions at low precipitation altitudes ejected are also an important source precipitation. addition, these acceletated may be ions.
