摘要: The aim of this study was to assess the risk noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) in shearing and investigate practicable control methods. Woolshed surveys included shed construction data, dosimetry area sampling. exposures from 40 personal measurements were all above 85 dB(A) action level, lying range 8690 dB(A). Shearers had highest exposure, “near field” coming cutting edge comb, but also downtubes gears. Noise for sorters pressers contributed by stereo system (found sheds). Lined sheds seemed have slightly higher levels than unlined sheds. None crews protection available. Redesign equipment primarily handpiece gears could potentially reduce exposure 2-3 possibly more. In meantime need wear be subject audiometric surveillance.
