Analysis of Teeth and Bones for Alpha-Emitting Elements

摘要: A method for the analysis of a single tooth and small samples bone Po/sup 210/, Ra/sup 226/, 224/ is described. It was found to give results in good agreement with those obtained by other laboratories using different methods. Radium-224 distinguished from 226/ nonrandom decay its daughters, or time course growth alpha -activity. There quantitative chemical recovery 210/ (counting efficiency 51% 2 pi geometry backscatter 2%). Chemical radium approximately 74%; self-absorption factor 0.90, 1.02, 0.50, combined separation counting 33%. The coefficient variation 7% polonium 9% radium. chief advantages are simplicity relatively short necessary analysis. Simultaneous analyses can be done on same sample calcified tissue.
