Malaysian mothers' knowledge & practices on care of neonatal jaundice.

摘要: This study aimed to determine the gaps of knowledge and practices care neonatal jaundice among Malaysian mothers. It was a cross sectional 400 mothers who attended obstetric clinics or were admitted wards general hospital. They surveyed with structured set questionnaire. The results showed that majority (93.8%) them knew about jaundice, 71.7% lasting more than 2 weeks abnormal. However, only 34.3% aware appearing during first 36 hours life Less 20% glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency fetal-maternal blood group differences could cause jaundice. Although 69.7%, respectively, severe death brain damage, 38.4% result in hearing impairment. A very low proportion (27.1%) putting jaundiced infants under direct sun dehydration worsening Out maximum score 15, mean maternal 7.4 (95% confidence intervals: 7.1, 7.7). Majority (83.1%) multiparous past history having children developing (n = 154) practiced placing their sun. revealed there wide gap on Placing still common practice.
