摘要: Although studies on the degradative metabolism of hydroxyproline have revealed that this amino acid is converted at least in part to glutamic (I-G), knowledge intermediates conversion and other products not yet complete. In course experiments hydroxyproline, it was observed incubation with kidney pre.parations led formation a compound which we identified as pyrrole-2-carboxylic (PCA) (7).’ Subsequent study D-amino oxidase oxidizes hydroxy-n-proline allohydroxy-n-proline an intermediate appears be Al-pyrroline-4-hydroxy-2-carboxylic acid. The int’ermediate spontaneously (at pH 8.3) PCA; occurs much more rapidly solution. PCA also product t,ransamination y-hydroxyornithine glyoxylate, pyruvate, or wketoglutarate. evidence suggests such transamination, contrast ornithine (8, 9), involves a-amino group rather than b-amino group. This report describes by enzymatic oxidation, non-enzymatic oxidation hydrogen peroxide. Some implications these findings terms are discussed.
