摘要: In the last two decades, many studies have focused on whether periodontitis is a risk factor for preterm birth (PTB). However, both epidemiological investigation and intervention trials reached contradictory results from different studies. What explains findings, how should future be conducted to better assess this factor? This article reviews recent epidemiological, animal, in vitro as well that evaluate link between PTB. Periodontitis may act distant reservoir of microbes inflammatory mediators contribute induction Animal revealed maternal infections with periodontal pathogens increase levels circulating IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17, TNF-α induce models showed pathogens/byproducts COX-2, IFN-γ, secretion and/or apoptosis placental tissues/cells. The effectiveness treatment prevent PTB influenced by diagnostic criteria periodontitis, microbial community composition, severity strategy, efficiency, period during pregnancy. Although reported results, oral health maintenance an important part preventive care effective safe throughout pregnancy supported before As continue published, new ideas are proposed here: 1) Severe generalized promotes PTB; 2) only pregnant women who young or HIV-infected preeclampsia, pre-pregnancy obesity, susceptible genotypes.
