摘要: Psychotherapy has been demonstrated to be an effective form of treatment for people with psychological problems. However, there is considerable resistance attempts generalize these findings intellectual disabilities. Such therapeutic disdain a long history without any empirical foundation. Recently it argued on philosophical grounds that disabilities should have access the same services as everyone else. Furthermore, actively targeted they are more likely difficulties than non-handicapped people. The literature concerning overwhelmingly behavioural. More recently various psychotherapeutic approaches explored alternatives behavioural interventions. Publication several case studies in late 1980s and early 1990s provided some evidence benefit no outcome studies. This paper reports study individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy normal clinical practice 25 men who were referred behaviour Of participants study, 20 completed treatment. In most cases problem was eliminated this maintained at six months follow-up.
