摘要: In this work, we introduce a new process for fabrication of Nafion(reg. sign)-based membrane-electrode assemblies direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The relies on modified formulation catalyst inks and high-temperature treatment the MEA, both leading to improved long-term performance stability relative standard MEAs used in DMFC testing at LANL. Unrecoverable loss novel MEA after 3000-hour life test voltage 0.50 V has been estimated be {approx}10 mV (at 100 mA cm{sup -2}). This number compares favorably with measured {approx} 60 under same conditions. Most gains are due prope rties Pt-Ru anode. particular, better anode helps reduce surface area over time, providing net gain 25-30 Improved also reflects cathode thanks reduced crossover long operating times ({approx} 15 gain).
