摘要: One of the first successful experiments to verify effects an ionizing radiation over insect (Lasioderma serricorne F., cigarette beetle) was performed by Runner in 1916. Soon afterwards, Muller demonstrated 1927 that rays from radioactive substances could induce genetic damage and a larger number dominant lethal mutations Drosophila melanogaster Meigen, which were expressed through reduction hatchability eggs laid treated females or fathered males. However, economic entomologists became really aware sterility insects be quite easily achieved radiations only after 1950, when made great effort publicize biological radiation. This beginning new branch Science, Radioentomology. More than 2800 references literature published along past six decades. Over 300 species arthropods, mostly importance, have already been subjected irradiation studies for basic research, pest control applications (e.g., autocidal known as Sterile Insect Technique-SIT, support programs), disinfestation commodities (for quarantine phytosanitary purposes) (Bakri et al., 2005). Besides that, may labelled with stable isotopes ecology nutrition studies.
