摘要: Summary Ammonia is increasingly recognized as an important, sustainable fuel for global use in the future. Applications of ammonia heavy transport, power generation, and distributed energy storage are being actively developed. Produced at scale, could replace a substantial fraction current-day liquid consumption. This ammonia-based economy will emerge through multiple generations technology development scale-up. The pathways forward regard to (generation 1) immediate future approaches 2) that rely on Haber-Bosch process discussed. Generation 3 breaks this nexus with enables direct reduction dinitrogen electrochemically. However, roadmap toward scale has become obscured by recent research missteps. Nevertheless, alternative generation becoming viable. We conclude perspectives broader sustainability need further understanding planetary nitrogen cycles which important part.
