摘要: One of the phenomena associated with deinstitutionalization is official delabeling persons previously labeled “mentally retarded”. Delabeling commonly occurs when someone diagnosed, and sometimes receiving services as a mentally retarded person, seeks new or additional from some component mental retardation community service delivery system. When such person evaluated, reevaluated, by Regional Center another agency found to have an I.Q. above that required for eligibility, label retarded” may be replaced another, “schizophrenic” “learning handicapped” simply expunged erstwhile declared borderline average intelligence. As result this process delabeling, contrary established belief, one day not next.
