摘要: New evidence from piston cores and high-resolution seismic reflection data shows that water levels in Lake Titicaca were as much 100 m below the present level during early to mid-Holocene (between .6 3.8 14C kyr BP). Climatological modelling studies indicate rainfall depends on convective activity upwind Amazonia; lake-level therefore suggest a drier Amazon Basin this time. This view is bolstered by an excellent match between curve decreased methane concentrations Greenland ice, previously ascribed drying of low-latitude wetlands (Blunier et al., 1995). The postglacial history fits global pattern change tropics, characterized opposite phasing Southern Northern Hemispheres. most likely result orbital controls over intensity summer insolation.
