摘要: Rapid technological advances and new models of aging highlight the potential smart homes to support older adults promote independence. A “smart home” is a residential setting with embedded features that enable passive monitoring well-being activities their residents aiming improve primarily overall quality life, detect or even prevent emergencies ultimately increase independence for involved residents. Efforts design, implement evaluate such systems have been underway several years now, targeting specifically people disabilities general population. This chapter reviews existing home initiatives healthy utilize diverse sets technologies (e.g., cameras, motion sensors, radio frequency identifiers) serve various goals monitor mobility, emergencies). We discuss ethical practical considerations outline gaps in current scientific evidence future trends.
