Immigration legal status and use of public programs and prenatal care.

摘要: This study assessed impacts of immigrants' legal status on utilization prenatal care and public programs by non-citizen women. Interviews chart reviews 171 women were conducted less than 48 hours after delivery at an urban hospital. Among non-citizens, 67% legally documented. No differences in adequacy detected among who as a group had health insurance, worse socioeconomics, program use compared to U.S. citizens. Non-citizens also aware newborn's citizenship eligibility for benefits. utilized fewer while reporting greater economic hardship citizens; however, non-citizens selectively used important pregnancy. Given changes federal high rates reported food insecurity socioeconomic monitoring adverse effects birth outcomes is needed.
