摘要: Murray’s contributions were written partly from the lived experience of being a professional practitioner within physical theatres ‘boom’ in 1980s-1990s, and cumulative academic research since 2001. The book refuses to accept restricting frame ‘textbook’ whilst acknowledging an anticipated readership under- postgraduate students informed/curious practitioners. Insisting on plural construction, ‘physical theatres’, this volume is exploration hybridity plurality that mark contemporary theatre forms over last three decades. It acknowledges, traces interrogates heterogeneity traditions influences have shaped theatres; at same time, it suggests any must be performed read kinaesthetically. Applying lens selection plays, both classical modern, argues languages gesture movement should as valued spoken word when realising text for stage. Challenging validity its own terms reference, critically examines range pedagogical performance practices often ascribed canon theatres.
