摘要: Homotopy continuation is applied to the industrially important MTBE and methyl acetate reactive distillation (RD) columns analyse for steady state multiplicities. Continuation in two distinct ways, with respect tray catalyst mass column inputs. Catalyst provides a tool convergence solution of highly non-linear governing equations. Also, diagram reveals occurrence multiple states. For column, up five states kinetically controlled regime are detected. Of these, only three remain limit reaction equilibrium on trays. both regimes obtained at fixed reflux rate reboiler duty. If specification changed ratio duty, single observed. The operating policy thus substantially impacts existence Column input used obtain complex relationships between variables (reboiler rate, so on) output (tray temperatures, conversion, on). Steady multiplicities seen columns. A thorough understanding these essential devising robust control strategies.
