摘要: Background Pressure sores are localized injuries to the skin and underlying tissues mainly resulting from overpressure. Paraplegic peoples particularly subjects pressure because of long-time seated postures sensory deprivation at lower limbs. Methodology/Principal Findings Here we report outcomes a feasibility trial involving biofeedback system aimed reducing buttock overpressure whilst an individual is seated. The consists (1) sensors, (2) laptop coupling sensors actuator (3) wireless Tongue Display Unit (TDU) consisting circuit embedded in dental retainer with electrodes put contact tongue. principle detecting overpressures people who over long periods time, estimating postural change that could reduce these communicating this through directional information transmitted by TDU.Twenty-four healthy voluntarily participated study. Twelve initially formed experimental group (EG) were on chair TDU inside their mouth. They asked follow orders randomly spread throughout session. evaluated during two sessions which 20 electro-stimulations sent. other subjects, added retrospectively, control (CG). These one session same experiment without any biofeedback.Three dependent variables computed: ability reach target posture (EG versus CG), high reductions after CG) level relative initial values only). Results show EG reached 90.2% trials, against 5,3% CG, significant reduction compared CG (3), for EG, higher pressures were, more they decreased. Conclusions/Significance The findings suggest that, trial, able use tongue tactile feedback while Further evaluation paraplegic remains be done.
