摘要: Objectives Exposure to monoterpenes (I-pinene, J-pinene and q3-carene) in joinery shops was studied Sweden during the processing of Scot's pin acute respiratory effects among employees were evaluated. Methods A cross-sectional study 38 workers carried out 4 shops. The investigation included personal air sampling monoterpenes, biological monitoring metabolites I-pinene workers' urine, interviews following a standardized questionnaire, dynamic spirometry. Results exposure 10--214 mg/m3. correlation (correlation coefficient = 0.69) between verbenols (metabolites from I-pinene) urine relatively good. No on forced vital capacity or expiratory volume 1 s detected. had significantly reduced preshift lung function values when compared with local reference group, even smokers ex-smokers excluded. Conclusions Personal I-pinene, J-pinene, q3-carene may exceed present Swedish occupational limit 150 mg/m3 winter season workroom is commonly recirculated. determination (verbenols) can be used as an index fumes released wood-treating processes. results tests indicate chronic rather than reactions airways. fact that there no major changes over workshift indicates reaction
