摘要: Objective To provide pilot data on the safety and efficacy of anterior posterior sub-Tenon injections triamcinolone either alone or in combination with focal photocoagulation treatment mild diabetic macular edema (DME). Design Prospective, phase II, multicenter, randomized clinical trial. Participants One hundred nine patients (129 eyes) DME visual acuity 20/40 better. Methods The participants were assigned randomly to receive (n = 38), a 20-mg injection 23), followed by after 4 weeks 25), 40-mg 21), 22). Follow-up visits performed at 4, 8, 17, 34 weeks. Main outcome measures Change retinal thickness measured optical coherence tomography (OCT). Results At baseline, mean study eyes was 20/25 OCT central subfield 328 mum. Changes thickening not significantly different among 5 groups (P 0.46 P 0.94, respectively). There suggestion greater proportion having less than 250 mum 17 when peribulbar combined photocoagulation. Elevated intraocular pressure ptosis adverse effects attributable injections. Conclusions In cases good acuity, triamcinolone, without photocoagulation, is unlikely be substantial benefit. Based these results, III trial evaluate benefit treatments for warranted.
