摘要: Surveillance for Enterovirus 71 (EV-71) infection in children up to 15 years of age was carried out Brazil, from 1988 1990. Patients with acute neurological diseases (AND) such as flaccid paralysis, Bell's palsy, cerebellar ataxia and Guillain-Barre syndrome were included the study. EV-71 detected 24 426 (5.6%) AND. confirmed only by virus isolation 13 children, seroconversion 4, alone 7. also isolated 427 household contacts (3.5%) 165 AND patients. There some evidence high infectivity EV-71: clusters case 7 (29.1%) infected manifesting AND; 11/40 (27.5%) patients but 4/387 (1.0%) whom it not possible demonstrate infection. Seven exhibited residual motor deficiency when examined 6 months after disease onset. The relevance these results Plan Global Eradication Wild Poliovirus is discussed, well need increase knowledge about behaviour this its association
