摘要: While most colonic motor activity is segmental and non-propulsive, high amplitude propagated contractions (HAPC) can transfer contents over long distances often precede defecation. High occur spontaneously, in response to pharmacological agents or distention. A subset of patients with slow transit constipation have fewer HAPC. In this issue Neurogastroenterology Motility, Rodriguez et al. report that anal relaxation during spontaneous bisacodyl-induced HAPC exceeds rectal distention constipated children undergoing manometry. Moreover, consistent a neural mechanism, precedes arrival the left colon. are also used evaluate meal stimuli (e.g., bisacodyl, neostigmine) identify inertia motility testing chronic constipation. This editorial comprehensively reviews characteristics, physiology pharmacology HAPC, their assessment by manometry, relevance diarrhea.
