Study on distribution of fortified centers of Basilicata reported in the Atlante (1781-1812) of Rizzi Zannoni. Toponymy, census and Gis analysis

摘要: Examining the region of Basilicata (South Italy) represented in Atlante Geografico del Regno di Napoli Giovanni Antonio Rizzi Zannoni we can note existence a large number place names related to military field (Torre, Guardia, Castello, etc.). Although some these are fortified sites abandoned or no longer exist at time measurements geographers, and after first comparison with census still active end eighteenth century, high uniform distribution center defense observation. What was average distance between sites? those greater visibility? for any visual signals inland areas? There more protected than other centers?
