摘要: This study describes the occurrence of clinical keratoconjunctivitis in a Spanish red deer(Cervus elaphus) population 150 km south Madrid. Necropsy findings, microbiological and serological results are reported. In September 1996 total 28 carcasses stags were inspected, which 11 (39%) showed macroscopic lesions keratitis or keratoconjunctivitis. Conjunctival swabs frozen tissue samples eyeballs taken from six used for isolation trials ofMoraxella sp. andMycoplasma sp., Smears histological sections stained with Stamp technique detection ofChlamydia psittaci. None these pathogenic organisms could be detected. Serum 19 deer different age sex tested antibodies againstChlamydia psittaci by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay as well against three alpha-herpesviruses (bovine herpesvirus-1, caprine cervid herpesvirus-1) virus neutralization test. Antibodies detected 16 (84%), while none individuals was seropositive any alpha-herpesviruses. The indicate, that this has been exposed toChlamydia therefore pathogen agent might involved infection process population.
