摘要: Background. High rates of psychopathology and personality problems have been reported in children adolescents with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). It is not clear whether this consequent on the experience physical ill health. We compare psychiatric adjustment CFS suffering from another disorder (juvenile idiopathic arthritis or JIA).Method. Our sample consisted 28 30 JIA attending tertiary paediatric centres (age range, 11 to 18 years, mean 15, S.D. 2·3). In order assess status functioning, we used K-SADS interviews, CGAS Harter Self-Esteem Questionnaire child subjects; behavioural questionnaires (CBCL) assessment interviews (PAS) parent informants.Results. Psychiatric disorders year prior interview had present significantly more commonly group (72% v. 34% JIA) were impairing them (CGAS scores 45 77). Most common diagnoses both groups depressive anxiety disorders. Personality also frequent subjects (48% 26% difficulty 11% JIA). There few differences between two self-esteem.Conclusions. Psychopathology are severe forms cannot be explained strictly through illness.
