Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) are critical components of modern analytical geochemistry.  A properly constructed QA/QC program identifies both the source error provides a means establishing confidence in assessing limitations data. involves monitoring precision, accuracy, potential contamination from sampling to analysis.  Precision can be monitored via systematic insertion sample, pulp, duplicates, reference materials; resulting data subsequently evaluated using scatterplots, statistical tests (e.g. % relative standard deviation), Thompson-Howarth plots, average coefficient variation (CV avg (%)).  Accuracy is determined through submission materials difference, t-test) Shewart charts.   Blanks test results charts.
