Heat capacities and entropies of silicate liquids and glasses

摘要: The heat capacities of several dozen silicate glasses and liquids composed SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, FeO, MgO, CaO, BaO, Li2O, Na2O, K2O, Rb2O have been measured by differential scanning drop calorimetry. These results combined with data from the literature to fit Cpas a function composition. A model assuming ideal mixing (linear combination) partial molar oxide components (each which is independent composition), reproduces glass within error. assumption constancy ¯Cp,iis less accurate for liquids, but are not sufficient adequately constrain more complex model. For containing alkali metal alkaline earth oxides, systematically greater in high “field strength” network modifying cations. Entropies fusion (per g-atom) changes configurational entropy temperature, similarly affected Both smaller cation size charge therefore inferred lead development new structural configurations increasing temperature liquids.
