摘要: Background Resident education has to adapt a changing health care environment. Although aspects such as working hours and attrition rates have been studied in detail, data about the residents' perspective, especially European countries, are underrepresented scientific literature. The aim of this study was assess report neurosurgical German-speaking countries identify risk factors for quitting or residency program. Methods We conducted nonanonymous online survey among residents Germany, Austria, Switzerland. Log-binomial regression models were calculated further factors. Results Of 201 who responded survey, 37.3% (n = 75) dropped out training programs, including 20 (10%) ultimately quit neurosurgery changed another specialty. Only female gender (relative risk, 2.97; 95% confidence interval, 1.3–6.78) starting city one grew up (2.38; 1.01–5.62) significant Residents had close supervision at work (0.39; 0.17–0.89), observed program >3 days before applying (0.54; 0.31–0.95), well-defined guidelines within (0.57; 0.35–0.92), university hospital (0.41; 0.26–0.64) significantly less likely change their Conclusions high rate, residents, Switzerland should encourage directors specifically address issues reported by during interviews improve accordingly.
