摘要: The large, endothermic dragonfly Anax junius regulates the temperatures of its thorax (Tth) and head (Th) during flight. At high ambient temperature (Ta) it is able to dispose excess heat from by increasing hemolymph circulation abdomen, but recent evidence suggests that loss abdomen largely passive at Ta<30 °C. Nevertheless, these insects continue regulate Tth Th least down 20 °C probably much lower values Ta. As Ta declines, A. glide less, fly faster when feeding, increase their wingbeat frequency patrolling. Presumably as a result behavioral changes, production, thus inferred flight metabolic rate, inversely proportional This first demonstration based on field data an insect body while flying altering production.
